Discovering Stelvio National Park
Favourite destination for cyclists and bikers, that on its many hairpin bends show off their skill, the Stelvio Pass is the kingdom of sportsmen, that here can ski also in the summer. To discover Stelvio, the ideal is however to visit the famous national park that preserves its nature still uncontaminated.
Between Lombardia and Trentino-Südtirol, in the heart of the central Alps, the national park of Stelvio is extended on a surface of 130.700 hectares, dominated by the tops of Ortles and Cevedale mountains.

Among its more famous symbols there are with any doubt the Alpine Ibex that populate its famous national park and the many difficult hairpin bends on which the cycling champions are challenged, but the mountain of Stelvio became more and more also a ski paradise.
Best known to welcome important cycling races and for its typical flora and fauna, this important mountain between Lombardia and Alto Adige welcomes in fact an important ski area, with 20 kilometres of ski-runs opened for seven months every year.

Ciclismo su strada in Alta Valle
Bormio è terra di ciclismo; in una conca fra montagne altissime ci sono alcuni fra i passi più alti d’Europa. Passi che hanno fatto la storia del ciclismo su strada.
Con i suoi 2758m di altitudine, una pendenza media del 7,6% e una massima del 14%, il passo dello Stelvio è stato teatro fin dal 1953 di tappe che hanno segnato il Giro d’Italia (9, di cui 3 con arrivo in vetta). Epiche alcune edizioni come quella del 1965 dove i ciclisti sotto un’improvvisa nevicata riuscirono a scalare il lato valtellinese grazie a centinaia di spalatori e quella del 1972 con Galdos e Fuente che si diedero battaglia fino alla cima. Il Passo dello Stelvio è anche teatro ogni anno di 2 suggestive scalate: il Mapei day-Re Stelvio a Luglio e la Cima Coppi a Settembre.
