Italian Wines from Valtellina

Italian Wines from Valtellina

They are always more the estimators of the “Bacchus’ nectar” who know and appreciate the wines of the Valtellina.
Characterised by a landscape dominated by the big mountains of Alps, Valtellina is with any doubt more famous for the tops of Ortles and Cevedale mountains, the Stelvio Pass that welcomes the famous homonym national park and the bigger summer ski area of whole Alps, or for the tourist towns of Bormio and Livigno.
However, since a long time Valtellina is also a land voted to the cultivation of grapevine and to wine’s production. Among the autochthonous vines had been cultivating for centuries in Valtellina, the most famous is with any doubt the Nebbiolo, an important “red” who represents also the great majority of the grapevine cultivations and constitutes the base for the production of many Valtellina wines like the Valtellina Superior, awarded with the DOCG mark.
Then, there are also the other vines Pignola, Rossola and Frugola. Situated in Bormio, the Cristallo Residence Hotel is the perfect place where to spend a holiday tasting the delicious wines of Valtellina, and where you can taste the best wine at each lunch and dinner.
